Francesco Matarazzo

Count Francesco Antonio Matarazzo (1854 - 1937) Brazilian businessman, emmigrated from Italy at the age of 26, became the owner of an industrial empire of 365 factories, the wealthiest in Latin America, received the title of Count from the Kingdom of Italy.

  • Naples, Italy, summer of 1924. Happy, just arrived from Brazil, Count Francesco Matarazzo enters his favourite tailor shop. He checks measures, examines dozens of cuts of english fabric, he picks one. The old tailor finds that unusual:
    • -"Just one suit, Mr. Matarazzo?! Your son ordered half a dozen in the morning."
    • -"His father is rich, mine isn't."

  • "I make note that I have never had, nor have wished to have, what is called a boss"
